Aquarius reef base
Location: Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary,USA
Key Contributions : Sitting about 50-60 feet below the water surface, It plays a key role to study the detailed ecology of reef. Along with this, NASA also uses this facility to prepare the astronouts for the weightlessness and solitude of the outer space
Ice cube Neutrino Laboratory
Key Contributions : Encompassing a cubic kilometer of ice, Ice cube is a neutrino telescope consisting of thousands of sensors in Antarctic ice , designed to look for for point sources of neutrinos in TeV range to explore high energy astrophysical events. The data obtained is used to study supernova, gamma ray bursts and even dark matter. In 2013, it was publicly announced that Ice Cube detected 28 neutrinos that may have their origin external to the Solar System.

Brookhaven National Laboratory
Location: Long Island, New York, USA
Key Contributions: Originally conceived as Nuclear Research Facility, Research at BNL specializes in nuclear and high energy physics, energy science and technology, environmental and bioscience, nanoscience and national security. The 5,300 acre campus contains several large research facilities, including the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider and National Synchrotron Light Source II. In2012, The Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider made the Guinness World Records for achieving the “Highest Manmade Temperature” of a whopping 4 trillion degrees Celsius, which was later smashed by LHC. Till date, Seven Nobel prizes have been awarded for work conducted at Brookhaven lab.
DRDO’s Terrestrial Laboratory
Location: Chang La, Ladakh, India
Key Contributions: Located at 17,664 feet above the sea level,
It has received Guinness World Records certification for being highest terrestrial research laboratory in the world.Several life science activities like physiological work, long term conservation of plant genetic resources, designing, testing and demonstration of mobile and portable greenhouses are undertaken at this centre.It is also used as natural cold storage for rare and endangered medical plants.
China Jinping Underground Laboratory
Location: Jinping Mountains of Sichuan, Chinap
Key Contributions: Inaugurated in 2010, is an underground research facility with the deepest rock overburden and largest space by volume in the world. The cosmic ray rate in the laboratory is under 0.2 muons/m²/day, placing the lab at a depth of 6720 meter water equivalent and making it the best-shielded underground laboratory in the world.

Key Contributions: Being a joint project of NASA, ROSCOSMOS, JAXA, ESA and CSA,The ISS is a space station, or a habitable artificial satellite, in low Earth orbit. The ISS serves as a microgravity and space environment research laboratory in which crew members conduct experiments in biology, human biology, physics, astronomy, meteorology, and other fields.It is also used for the testing of spacecraft systems and equipment required for missions to the Moon and Mars.
